Treatment of NDMA & 1,4-dioxane in San Gabriel Valley, California

California’s San Gabriel Valley, settled in 1841, has a history of industrial development that has led to significant groundwater contamination with organic contaminants like N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and 1,4-dioxane. The contamination plume, discovered in 1979, extends nine miles and affects several cities. NDMA, a by-product of rocket fuel manufacturing, and 1,4-dioxane, used in industrial solvents, require advanced treatment technologies. TrojanUV has supplied UV-oxidation systems to five groundwater treatment facilities in the Baldwin Park Operable Unit Superfund Site, significantly improving contaminant breakdown and reducing electricity consumption.
